If it's a "woman's disease", there just isn't research done on it, which means the doctors don't know what causes it, which of course means the doctors don't know how to cure it. It was also a very quick read - a nice change from long, depressing literary novels. I disagree with the reviewer who said that getting into the "old age" portion was a bad thing - it's part and parcel to how the author was feeling - her vagina hurt, she's getting old, she's no longer sexually attractive/active...
