Since it was about a 6 hour drive to Chicot State Park we took a vacation day to drive down to Louisiana on super bush Friday. We arrived before dark and set everything up. All we could see of the lake was this narrow finger of water blanketed completely super bush with green aquatic plants the size of confetti with hundreds super bush of large bald cypress trees growing out of the water. Rodney Skyles the race director was expecting a small crowd of four, four person coed teams (two from Texas); four, three person male teams; one, three person female team and six, two person male teams (two from Texas). We told Team Backpacker that they had better be looking over their shoulders for the Chubbies because we were gunning for them….wink…wink….nudge…nudge. We love it when we get a chance to race new venues.
