So it's about sex and how sex fits into life. It's also about disease generally, and what it's like to be ill. I didn't decide to write it; I found manchester myself writing it. I was involved in such a confusing medical maze that I started taking notes to try to keep things straight. One doctor said one thing, one doctor said another, and I felt I needed to document all of it--partly because I couldn’t remember it. As I was doing that, I realized it was funny, and wacky. So I kept writing it.Q: So it was therapeutic to write?A: Not exactly. I don't like that notion that writing is therapeutic.
