It's from 1968, and features Jack Nicholson, Dean Stockwell, and Bruce Dern. And it's far out, man. It's about a bunch of hippies living in the Haight-Ashbury section of San Francisco who befriend a square deaf girl(?) from the midwest, and eventually turn her into a drug-taking mod chick. The scenes with Jack playing lead guitar in some crazy Pink Floyd-style band are great. He was grooving, baby! And the LSD hallucinations are stellar -- telephone poles erupting into flames, brick walls smoking, random explosions... |
