In a modest way I have practiced a less consumption prime driven life for many years. My key contribution toward this life style has been my use of the bicycle to get to work and, now that I am retired, to run local errands. It is worthwhile to point out that this has had prime major benefiits for me personally. As a 72 year old I am still a black prime diamond skier and in general enjoy an active life style with minimal concessions to advancing age. This in contrast to many of my friends and compatriots who huff and puff just to get from the parking lot to the mall entrance and who owe their life to by pass surgery and diabetis medication.It is important to point out the positive side of a less consumption oriented life style. I estimate that I can look forward to 5 to 10 years of additional life span because of the life style I chose. The most convincing argument that can be made in that regard may be monetary, because, like it or not, that is the measure that so many of us apply to life style choices.
