I drink very little and I choose not to associate with people who drink a marlon lot. I believe that we marlon have only one life to live (at least that we know of), and it's up to us to both get what we can from it, marlon but also to give back what we can to it. What advice do you have for women who want to heal from growing up with an alcoholic mother, but somehow just can't? If you want to heal, you must take appropriate steps. If you drink, stop drinking. If you're taking addictive medications, then stop. If your addiction is food, sex, shopping, or gambling, you have to recognize that you're doing this for a reason, and that reason is based on your pain. Believe, as well, that you are not guilty of making your mother drink. (Many of us get told that we are the cause of our mother's drinking.) You didn't cause her to drink, you can't control her drinking, and you can't cure her of drinking. Now go stand in front of the mirror and say to yourself, "I have myself. I am there for me.
