They know that actors most of their friends will also be tuning in. "When we come to school, we talk actors about the programme — the letters that were read out, the advice and the suggestions from the presenters," says Prativa. "We discuss whether the suggestions would work, whether they are practical. It helps us to learn about different aspects of life and how to face up to problems." Chatting With My Best Friend is the first national radio programme in Nepal that frankly discusses personal issues affecting young people. It seems to be encouraging its audience to do the same.
