This award was in honour of our outstanding leadership and commitment to best practices in hiring qualified people with disabilities. BC was actively involved in the 2004 Face-to-Face Program. We were able to offer 17 opportunities to participants during Face-to-Face Week (June 21st-25th), which included informational interviews, job shadows and worksite tours in branches and service delivery wired women centres across the Lower Mainland. Our relationship with The BC wired women Society of Training for Health and Employment Opportunities wired women (THEO) Achieve - Planning and Employment Services program has led to qualified CSR referrals and hires from their in-house banking training program. In Quebec, we signed an agreement with Société de Développement d' Employabilité de la Montérégie (SDEM). |

| back to top PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES In 2004, the RBC Banking Opportunities Pool in Ontario resulted in 27 hires. As part of a business realignment in 2005, the program will be anchored as a Regional Opportunity products Program with designated champions identified in each region. RBC continued to work with the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation & products Work (CCRW) and five other financial institutions in the development of the Banking on the Future skills training partnership program. This program focuses on recruitment, training and products hiring of persons with disabilities into personal banking roles. Vancouver has been selected as the site for the program in 2005. Regionally, RBC was involved in a number of outreach employment initiatives in 2004. Examples include: In BC, we have built a strong partnership with the Greater Vancouver Business Leadership Network (GVBLN) - an employer-led network of business, government and community organizations dedicated to improving employment opportunities that benefit businesses and people with disabilities. |
